Casinos, Shows, Shopping and Food during Carnival - Las Vegas Style

Picture
This year the group decided to travel to Las Vegas in December  due to the extensive 2013 travel plans we all had.  Las Vegas is a good town for friends to "meet up" and a fabulous town during the Holiday Season.

Our home for our stay in Vegas was The Palazzo Resort and Casino, a five star hotel.  The Palazzo sits on the Vegas Strip with easy walking access to shows and certainly a great spot for shopping.  Our plan for this trip was a little different in that we all went our own way during the day and then we would meet up for our nightly activities.

For some that meant relaxing in  the wonderful spa in the hotel  or visiting with friends living in the area.  For others the days were spent shopping in the great stores and boutiques available by walking through the casinos or on the Strip.  Some decided to catch up on as many of the Oscar nominated films as possible or just sit in the luxurious suites and read without any disruptions.

It was ideal vacation for all!

Our first evening we met at Lavo at the Palazzo for a wonderful Italian dinner.  Chef Ralph Scamardella and his team create selections of classic Italian dishes for guest to enjoy.  And, the ambiance is over the top lavish, even  by Vegas standards.
Lavo restaurants are also in New York City and Sydney Australia
.

Breakfast most mornings was a short walk through the   Casinos to Bouchon, the same Chef as French Laundry.

Of course the walk to Bouchon was filled with incredible holiday decorations, and sometimes we just had to stop for a "look-see" at the craps tables.

Our second evening we spent at The Beatles "Love", preformed by Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage.  The show was fabulous and strongly recommend if you are in Vegas.

Keeping in tradition of visiting the "Best"
we went the following evening to Terry Fator's holiday show.  You may remember that Terry won "America's
Got Talent" and has been voted as the number one entertainer in Las Vegas.

Of course, Las Vegas during Carnival is not to be outdone by any one show.   The streets were filled with music, dancing and bizarre, eclectic,  Venetian  characters.

Our final evening we rode in style, sharing a limo to the MGM Grand for dinner at Joel Robuchon Restaurant.  As with other IDC  dinners, this one was extraordinary.  Winner of Michelin's Three Star, Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, and Wine Spectator's Grand Award, Joël Robuchon was named France's Chef of the Century by the esteemed Gault Millau restaurant guide.

Next year, the IDC goes to Ireland!
